Twilight Concert Series 2012: Common & Aloe Blacc
Chicago hip-hop artist Common closed this years Twilight Concert Series last Thursday. Here are some pics I took of the show. He went onstage a bit late but he was worth the wait. He was awesome live and even did a cover of Nas' classic song "N.Y. State of Mind" as a tribute to Nas who had headlined the concert series a few weeks earlier. According to the local newspaper Common attracted a crowd of more than 27,000. Warming up the crowd before Common took the stage was R&B artist Aloe Blacc. I got to the concert a bit late and only caught the last of his set but from what I did hear he sounded great live. I had a great time this summer and can't wait to see who will be on the bill for next year.

Twilight Concert Series 2012: My Morning Jacket
Here are some pictures I took of My Morning Jacket's concert last night. Let me just start by saying that they blew my mind from beginning to end. They are a band that I have always liked and respected but for one reason or another I never took the time to actually sit down and listen to them. That all changed last night when I witnessed some serious talent and amazing skills five feet in front of me. Highlight of the show was when they played "Touch Me I'm Going to Scream" to a reported 17,000 crowd waving their glow sticks and rocking out until the next song started. And not to mention when they came back to do an encore to a crowd wanting more. I had a really good time and if you ever get the chance to see them live do it and you will be in for a treat. On a side note if your a fan of the T.V. show "American Dad" they have a whole episode dedicated to them.

Twilight Concert Series 2012: Nas
Nas killed it at last night's Twilight Concert Series!!!! He gave an amazing performance for a reported crowd of over 20,000 people. And went through classic songs like "N.Y. State of Mind" and "The World is Yours." Seeing him live for the first time just reminded me why he is my favorite hip-hop artist. And the best part of the concert was noticing that he was enjoying himself onstage and was feeding off the good vibes from the crowd. Which made his performance that much better. And I had a great time dancing and rapping along to my favorite tracks. As far as pictures go these were the best shots I took of him :)

Twilight Concert Series 2012: Raphael Saadiq
Last Thursday I saw the incredibly talented musician Raphael Saadiq. He played at this years Twilight Concert Series held annually in Salt Lake City. Before Thursday I had only heard a couple of R&B songs from him but after the show I was utterly in awe and immediately turned into a fan. He was a natural onstage working the audience and had everyone in attendance including myself dancing throughout his set. It's worth noting his energetic backup singers, the keyboardist, and the guitarist who has a particularly nice solo. It was a great night and here are some pics I took of it :)
